Piper's Notes has enjoyed millions of visitors while hosting John Piper's online sermons. Desiring God has since established the sermon library on its own domain and has expanded upon this humble beginning to bring God's Word to the world. We warmly encourage you to visit and support Desiring God's Internet ministry.
A Brief History of Piper's Notes and Moe and Karan Bergeron
In the fall of 1992 we were blessed to obtain from John Piper the sermons he had saved to diskette from mid-1984 to 1993. We took two of his sermon years, 1984 and 1985, and published them as compiled eBooks in both DOS and Windows formats through a Bulletin Board (BBS) service we operated from our home. With the advent of the Internet we were provided the opportunity to enlarge the audience for Dr. Piper's sermons. In December of 1995 we contacted John Piper and introduced him to the potential of Piper's Notes. Permission was given and the real work had begun.
This ministry would not have been possible without the help of several other volunteers. Our thanks go out to Fred & Marveen who worked very hard with a flatbed page scanner and OCR software to scan all of the earlier printed sermons into workable text files. After scanning the sermon pages we tidied up all the text by cleaning up what the OCR software could not do perfectly.
Additional words of appreciation go to Ruth McNeese for her labor of love in editing and converting a good many of Piper's sermons to HTML. Ruth was also actively involved in editing pages for an online commentary project we had going for some time.
Our thanks also go out to Paul Mikulecky who designed and contributed Piper's Notes' desk graphic. Visit Paul's site at Lost Pencil Animation Studios Inc.
We also want to thank the good brethren at Bethlehem Baptist Church and Desiring God Ministries for allowing us to serve both them and the people of God throughout the Internet world.
To all of the Friends of the John Bunyan Internet Ministry (for many years that's what we called our Internet ministry) we thank you for your continued prayers and love.
Piper's Notes is presently maintained by the combined labors of Karan and Moe Bergeron.
THE HISTORY OF PIPER'S NOTES
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
